Tea Shelter at Portobello Roundabout?

Postby minnie1957 » 04 Mar 2012, 00:16

Can anyone help settle a family argument?
My sister insists that in the 1960's there was a hut/kiosk that gave out cups of tea to the bus drivers on the opposite side of the road from Ramsey Tec (just past the Landrover Garage) at the corner where the old roundabout used to be. No one else in the family can remember this, anyone remember this?
Cheers

Hi
There was a tearoom opposite the Ramsay Technical Institute. I think it was an old signal box which stood on the right hand of the present railway. Around `980 the front was shaped like a teapot.....
