It's me - I think?

I noticed the letters ECM cropping up in a lot in the hits I had on Google when searching for maps for Portobellos round the world.

Don't know what an ECM is though in realtion to maps and computer systems.

Sorry, folks, it turns out that El P and Co won't have time to go and see Portobello, NZ.

I think it would be nice to twin with it, even if the rugby posse don't get to visit it. I like the idea of twinning with other Porties. :D

Brilliant idea =D> to twin virtually (she carefully avoids a split infinitive, despite Star Trek) though. Thanks Porty!

Robert Gillet, secy to Portobello Community Council has been to Porty NZ but this was before we thought of twinning.

I wonder if we'd get preferential rates at this hotel in London - www.portobello-hotel.co.uk?

It's like a mini Edinburgh! There's Musselburgh, Liberton, Waverley and Corstorphine. We should name the next new development in Edinburgh "Wakari" or "Ocean Grove" to return the compliment.

Greetings from Portobello New Zealand.

I was reading your thread about us so I thought I'd join in before you offended us too much.

Your not so Bonnie Prince Charles drove through here on Tuesday on his way to visit the albatross colony down the road. While in Dunedin he stayed at Corstorphine House.

We have a meeting of our local committee next week so I will report this discussion to them and see if there is any interest in forming a twin relationship. Given our size we would have to be your mini me though.

Cheers

Greetings back, duglilly! :D Nice to hear from you all the way from New Zealand. You live near an albatross colony - how amazing! I believe there is quite a bit of concern about albatross numbers due to the reduced quantities of their food supply. Is that effecting the ones near you?

The Albatros colony is just 20 minutes further down the road and is still within Dunedin city limits. The only one if its kind in the world.

Hi there Duglilly - good to hear that our drivel is being reviewed from the southern hemisphere!

Just one thing though: don't try any of this 'your' business with Charlie boy. I think you'll find you and we have equal shares and I for one don't want any more, thanks.

And if you look elsewhere you'll see that Prombabe seems to want a bit more aggro in the discussions, so despite your hoping to avoid offence you may be onto a loser...

Anyone over there been to over here?

Hi Duglilly,

Nice to hear from you. I think your Porty and Dunedin look lovely.

A wee joke about the not so bonnie bride to be...............

Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, and Quasimodo were all talking one day.

Sleeping Beauty said, "I believe myself to be the most beautiful girl in the world."

Tom Thumb said, "I must be the smallest person in the world."

Quasimodo said, "I absolutely have to be the ugliest person in the world."

They decided to go to the Guinness Book of World Records to have their claims verified.
Sleeping Beauty went first and came out looking deliriously happy. "It's official, I AM the most beautiful girl in the world,"
Tom Thumb went next and emerged triumphant, "I am officially the smallest person in the world."

Sometime later, Quasimodo came out looking confused and simply stated, "Who is Camilla Parker Bowles?"

Bob

Did you clock the Strategic Plan for the other Portobello. Interesting!!

- beachfront development
- harbour access
- better footpaths
- less doggies do
- etc

It's not that different from our plan!!

Not really so daft, nads - we have yet to hear back from any Kiwis after the meeting referred to by Duglilly.

I notice they now have a community website here:

http://portobello.net.nz/community

with an e-mail address contact@portobello.net.nz

Maybe we should start cyber twinning negotiations again.
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

I have linked up with Portobello, Ontario on Fb - their community development trust has a page. Have invited them to link into our Portobello High St Group. Lots of exciting projects in their community.
