Apart from the usual glib guff of making Portobello a nicer place, does anyone know of any election candidates that are pledging to seek inward investment/ acquire development funds for the promotion of business to the area?
I strikes me that Portobello has plenty of potential to develop tourism and other business, but is hampered by a grotty prom, the disrepair of some of its older buildings and generally poor town planning.
Leith and Granton have been the recipients of public and private investment - why not Porty? What are our elected representatives doing to support development?!
I would help counter voter apathy if candidates could at least address these issues (ie connect with voter concerns) and propose to do something about them. I'm afraid I'm not impressed by anything I've heard from any of the prospective candidates (for Parliament or Council).
It's time for some action, not hot air!
