PPAG's latest dirty tricks at Morrisons

Postby David Robertson » 22 Jan 2013, 10:37

Does anyone know what happened at Morrisons ?

I saw people speaking to shoppers and were asking them to support the new school being built on the park.

I did not stop as I have already submitted my support but I later heard that PPAG were tipped off, turned up and there was some conflict between the two groups.

Can anyone confirm this is the case and give us the details ?

I was at Morrison's at about 10am on Saturday morning and was a bit surprised to see a table set up between the two sets of doors manned by people looking for signatures to Save Porty Park. I didn't see any sign of any activity for those on the other side of the issue but there might well have been. The opposition seemed well organised so maybe it was the other way around and it was the Fannies that turned up and tried to put the boot in? Putting the boot in is maybe a little strong but, you know, got Ray Winstone or someone to tell them to "do one".

Not sure I'm happy that Morrison's allow floor space for either side in issues such as this. It's a depressing enough place to find yourself on a Saturday morning without an added floor show.

Whatever did or didn't happen it had nothing to do with PFANS. Clearly different people have given different accounts, but at most it sounds like a storm in a teacup.

Apologies I may have been mistaken as to which way around it was.

I did see a table of people talking to people and I overheard a conversation at the petrol station hence my post.

Just so that no-one is left in any doubt about this, PFANS were not at Morrisons on the day in question. I can assure you that OUR experience of running stalls in both Scotmid and Morrisons has been very positive and entirely incident-free.

We have found that most people support our aims and are happy to vote YES. We discuss the issues in an open, honest and friendly fashion while respecting other views.

We have also handed out dozens of copies of the Council information leaflet to those people who wanted to find out more before deciding. No-one has been coerced or pressured in any way. Our volunteers have conducted themselves at all times in a dignified and respectful manner and we are very proud of them and grateful for their fantastic work on our behalf.
