Edinburgh University is running a number of projects this week for Innovative Learning Week. We thought you might be interested in this collaborative project which is based in Portobello and is focused on sustainability particularly with respect to the introduction of a local currency (the Portobello pound). Please see information below. The students have spent today in Portobello talking to business people and shoppers on the High Street and surrounding area. You are most welcome to attend the pop-up exhibition being held from 4 - 6pm tomorrow, the 22nd of February, at the Dalriada pub in Portobello.
Best,
The Footprint Team (Cat Rossi, Emma Gieben-Gamal, Juliette MacDonald and Sonia Matos)

Do you think that sustainability is important?
Do you want to use your skills and expertise to get involved in a real-world project - one that'd not just look good on your cv, but do some good too?
Then Footprint is for you!
Set up by the Design School and open to students in every department and in every year across the University, Footprint is a project for anyone interested in social engagement and working with others - whether you're a first year product designer or a PhD mathematician.
We will spend Innovative Learning Week working with PEDAL, assisting them in their aim to turn Portobello into a sustainable local economy. Through a series of workshops run by Pidgen Perfect, an energetic creative studio from Glasgow, we will work together on a project designed to promote and re-vitalise Portobello's local high street, along the way talking to the community itself to find out exactly what they want, how we can be of help, and presenting our final ideas in a 'flash' event.
Specifically:
Local currency is increasingly recognised as a desirable option for communities wishing to be sustainable. In this week we will work together to identify a way to promote a local currency to the Portobello community as part of a wider project to revitalise the local high street. What we come up with is up to you!
