Porto-Velo, the cycling club for Portobello, is organising a family ride on Saturday (6 October). This is aimed mainly at younger children who are confident riding their own bikes, together with their parents; but all are welcome.
We will meet at the bandstand at the East end of the Prom at 2.30 pm. From there we will head towards Musselburgh where we can pick up the River Esk path. Children can ride on the pavement initially, while the Esk path is entirely traffic-free. The pace will be very leisurely (for the adults at least!) - this is all about giving the children an opportunity to ride together and have fun. The duration of the ride will be about 2 hours, depending on weather and how far people want to go. And speaking of weather, the ride may be cancelled if the forecast is bad - so keep an eye on this page for udpates nearer the day.
Please ensure bikes are in good order (tyres pumped up etc.), bring suitable clothing and a snack.
