Swimena at the Espy - 29th Feb 2012

Postby Max Blinkhorn » 07 Feb 2012, 14:21

The Wild Ones, Porty's own Loony Dookers announce: Another Swimena!

This is our second Swimena, a series of swimming oriented films. This week is another unusual offereing entitled "Deep End" and starring John Mulder-Brown and (be still, my beating something or other!) Jane Asher and believe me there ain't a cake in sight!

Asher plays a savvy swimming pool attendant with a double life. Mulder-Brown is a fresh from school changing room wallah who grows up fast in this 1970 film directed by Jerzy Skolimowski and shot on a single handheld camera. You are unlikely to have EVER seen this film as it was only released on DVD by the British Film Institute last year after being forgotten. Jane Asher looks fabulous and the ending of this quirky, fascinating film is completely unguessable as well as shocking in its beauty and swimmingness.

Hope you can make it. No charge. Espy have confirmed our slot and their comfy settees are already beckoning tired bods.... and the beer is waiting to be drunk. All welcome - kick off 8 p.m., Wednesday 29th Feb.

Just to support MaxB, do go and see this, it is a great film.(I saw this when it first came out and now have it on DVD)

If you like something unsettling, this is for you. If you like something erotic, this is for you. And if you like Diana Dors this is definitely for you (be still my beating heart, or something). One of the great lost films..... it makes you wonder how many more of them are out there.
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
