The design statement for the current application (you must have been looking at something relating to one of the previous 2 fresian) went online today and I met with the architect this afternoon to discuss some of my concerns. The client wants a rendered finish to all exterior walls. We will be arguing that the front should be in stone to match the original and to be in keeping with every other house in the street. Residents are meeting tomorrow to discuss our response.

What's happened to this house now? An 'accidental' fire??

No, the applicant decided to start demolishing it in a rather haphazard and dangerous fashion. Turned out he didn't actually have a building warrant to do so. All work has now ceased until this is in place and lets hope we don't have any high winds in the meantime or the whole gable end is likely to end up crashing into my stair. We fully expect further problems.

What a mess he has made, I honestly thought it had been a fire! I hope you don't suffer further problems but as you say, you probably will.

Take it he is aware of his duties under HASAWA. May be worth contacting the HSE about it. Hopefully he'll be forced to get someone competent to do the work

It's such a shame now that I notice he's got permission to demolish. We spotted this house a few weeks back and had been trying to find out who owns it. It would have been so much nicer to have fixed up the lovely cottage that's there Hopefully We'll find another fixer upper in Porty!
