McCarthy & Stone are consulting on their proposed retirement development on the site of the former Royal British Legion Club, Baileyfield Road. They are a specialist retirement home housing developer applying to build 49 private flats. Their plans are on view in Portobello High School from 2.30pm to 8pm Fri 4 Nov and on Sat 5 Nov from 10am to 1pm. It's an opportunity to find out more about the proposal and see the architectural drawings and artist impressions and ask questions. There is an opportunity to tell their agents what you think about the proposal or just to have a look. I have a close non-financial interest as I serve as a Trustee of the Portobello British Legion, who own the property, so I won't be taking part in any future Council Planning Committee decision on whether or not the development is acceptable.
The Venchie's Hallowee'n Party at Craigmillar Niddrie Mains Terrace is tonight, 6-9pm, which I'm looking forward to.
PEDAL - Portobello Transition Town want me to tell you about their events the next two weekends:
"Apple Day and Halloween Party, Sat 29 October 2-4pm All welcome!

A week on Saturday, the first Saturday of the month, is the Portobello Organic Market. Come along to Brighton Park to get your mouth-watering locally produced, seasonal and organic food, plus local and up-cycled arts and crafts. They now have a range of stalls selling hot food and drinks, so why not bring friends or family and make a day of it? And in addition to all our regular traders, this Saturday we’ll have Arran Cheeses on site, providing the perfect accompaniment to chutneys from regular stallholders Maureen Welsh or Oxenfoord Organics. Wood n Menagerie will also be there selling lovely gifts made form joinery off cuts.
At the PEDAL stall we’ll be selling their Porty branded t-shirts (two designs, ‘I Love Porty’ and ‘Home Sweet Home’). Various colours and sizes are available.
Where: Brighton Park, Brighton Place, Portobello. When: 9.30am — 1.30pm"
Have a good weekend!
Maureen
