Well, that went very well! What are you hoping to see from all this? I'd love to see separate cycle paths along London Road, so that you could get from Porty to Edinburgh without being alongside cars. The same could be done to other major routes like Leith Walk,the Costorphine Road, Clerk Street etc. I was in Copenhagen last year and it was amazing to see that almost every street had pavement, cycle path, and road.

I think the council's crackdown on cars using bus lanes will help cyclists, so thats a start

My vision is to have a smooth cycle path ring road round the whole of Edinburgh, incorporating flyovers (that can be cycled over) and much of the existing pathways developed where appropriate so there is also plenty of room for walkers. I would then create about 6-10 cycle ways from various point on the cycle ring road that lead directly into town. These cycle ways must be delineated from the motorists with kerbing, much like they do in cities like Seville for example. Probably cost bewteen £50-£70 million max - a drop in the ocean of the UK's road budget. Build it they will come. Simples.
