First, I'm in favour of the new school being built on Porty Park. I moved a year ago, so I live now in a flat on the old Porty High School, so my kids can go to school by the side of the golf course, instead of crossing Duddingston Park.
However I've got some concerns about traffic. Looked up the traffic part of the Private Bill, and the posts here, but couldn't see any answers, so am posting here. Probably the answers are already here somewhere though.
Anyway:
* Concerned about the rat-run down Stanley Road (To miss out some of Sir Harry Lauder Road), as the rat-run vehicles block Stanley Street whilst they wait to turn onto Southfield Place. Stanley Sreet, between Southfield Place and Park Avenue, has got parked cars on both sides, leaving one and half cars space for moving traffic. Once the new school has been built, there will be more cars on Brighton Rad/Southfield Place trying to turn down Stanley Street. Has the council got a plan for that please?
* The A1, at the moment, is 40mph, going down to 30mph going East, on the edge of the park. Is there any change to that once the school gets built please?
* The parents will park in the bus lanes on the A1 to drop off their kids. What is the council going to do combat this please?
Thanks for any answers!
Tim
