I'm delighted to report that Portobello Online won the 'Highly Commended' award (runner's up place) in the 'Community Enhancement through the Internet' section of the Calor Scottish Community of the Year 2005 Awards today. Anyone who wants to buy Bob or XXXX (aka Paul) a celebratory drink can find them in 'Forester's Bar'

Portobello Community Council also won 'Commended' certificates in two other categories; Old People and Community Life.

A proud day for all of us indeed! :wav:

Thanks everyone. I vaguely recall a meeting I held in the library 6, 7 years ago? I remember saying that I wanted to not only build a community website, but to build an award-winning one. If I had known then how long that was going to take, I probably wouldn't have bothered - but we got there in the end.

I'm personally delighted and I'm delighted for everyone who has contributed to the project both past and present. There are way too many names to list here, but you know who you are.

That list includes all of you, and its not just me that values your contribution.

Congratulations also to Lochwinnoch who pipped us at the post with a website that sets new standards in this keenly contested competition. A few ideas there for us to rip off in time for next year!

We had a great time, we drank far too much and, with your help, we'll be back next year.
