| The old fashioned "telegraph poles" which are being plonked in along Musselburgh Road. |

I returned from holiday to find that BT had stuck 2 telegraph poles on the sea side of Seaview Terrace - one by the side of the Rockville and the other by the side of Rock Cottage. One is right in front of my house and although the pole itself does not really bother me, the myriad of wires coming from it will certainly affect my view.
STOP was formed during my absence and they have so far managed to get assurances from BT that they will now review all other available options and get back to the group before anything other work will be done.
My personal view is that it is ridiculous that telegraph poles are required in an area just outside the city centre of a major UK city. This is not a remote part of the UK where telegraph poles are the only cost effective option - get underground fibre optic cables installed, it's the 21st Century! _________________ That's the trouble with reality - it's taken far too seriously. |

How about that then!
BT Openreach have today confirmed that they will dismantle the telegraph poles they have put up and continue to provide their service from the rear of the buildings. The impressive STOP team even managed to achieve this without any well known Portobello Activists being involved! _________________ That's the trouble with reality - it's taken far too seriously. |

Well done, Seaview Terrace residents and good to hear that BT Openreach were willing to compromise. _________________ www.porty.org.uk |

| And thankfully without anyone needing to sit atop the poles. That would have hurt. |
