Hi Guys, picked up this thread as I'm just back from Northern Cyprus (the Turkish part) and it was brilliant - highly recommend a trip there. The Turkish Cypriots are brill and they, and their part of the island are not spoiled by too much commercialised tourism (yet!).
If you ever decide to go, just be aware that the airline cannot fly over Greek Cypriot airspace so has to land at Istanbul (you sit in the plane while it refuels) then flies on to North Cyprus from there (basically an internal flight).
Can I ask your opinions on this though?
This is the 21st century, right? The world is a smaller place, right? Tourism, in general, widens our horizons, right?
So why will airlines, holiday premises, tourist companies, and above all, the English, only accept Bank of England currency?
We were humiliated on the plane trying to buy some duty free and only had a couple of Royal Bank tenners, and had to give back the booze 'cos they couldn't accept our money - I vote independence NOW!!!
I'm fed up being treated as second class, especially as we were sharing our trip home with a planeload of English people who didn't have a clue why our money wasn't accepted!
Anyway, we had a great holiday - saw the pictures in the thread - stunning! Looking forward to next holiday already!
Se ya!
