Obviously trying to distance himself from previous links with terror, Tony Blair today met Muammar Gaddafi in his desert home today. Asked if he felt comfortable shaking hands with such an international pariah, Gaddafi said "Mr Blair has obviously realised that his unfortunate past is something he wants to put behind him, and his pledge to get rid of the UK stock of WMDs is an important break with the past."
Some fear, however, that the UK regime's links with organised terror will not be easy for some people to forget.
The UK has long been a sponsor of paramilitary and terror organisations and is notorious amongst other more progressive european nations for
its association with the so-called "NATO" organisation, which spread fear for decades and conducted operations throughout the world.
"This meeting should send a message to the rest of the so-called West that their crimes can be forgotten, and a new military relationship forged to combat real threats like Zionism and US Imperialism" said the Libyan foreign minister.
"We hope that this rapprochement will benefit the UK economy - they will now have more money to combat the awful poverty and social deprivation we hear so much about" said Libya's Prime Minister, Shukri Ghanem. "As well as the weapons inspectors we will be sending to places like Faslane and Porton Down, we will be shipping medicine, olives and dates to the British people".
"We realise that they are just like us, really. We shouldn't blame them for the crimes of their leaders."
