Sun likely to set on home's solar panels

I've seen these panels, and I also applauded the thought behind them.
They are on the south facing (ie back) side of the house and certainly don't look offensive to me.
And what do they mean about the precedent being set? This is exactly the precedent that should be being set every where!
I had heard that grants for this type of thing were being reduced / phased out anyway? And I have my eye on one of these (which allegedly also don't need planning approval...)
Costs about £1000 at present but they are working on getting some grant approvals that I hope will bring this down to about £500 plus 5% VAT
