Portobello Triathlon on Sunday 20 July 2003

Some of you may not be aware that a Triathlon is being held in Portobello on Sunday 20 July 2003 from about 9am until 11am.The event will be well marshalled so just ask any of these friendly folk where the best vantage points on the prom will be.
The triathlon will consist of a Open water swim in the sea,a run along the prom and a cycle.
It will be an amazing sight to see so many competitors swimming in the sea which is unusal for Scotland as the swimming part of Triathlons normally take place in swimming pools.

Why don't you go along and cheer on these hardy souls as they'll need every encouragement that they can get.

Another feather in the cap for Porty and full marks to Bruce Kidd a local resident in helping to organise the event.

Just want to second that. Portobello is the perfect venue for this event and, as Bruce explained at a recent Community Council meeting, the potential is there for it to grow to be much larger. As Kevin says, it should be quite a spectacle and well worth getting out of bed for. Coming hot on the heels of the marathon event this puts Portobello firmly on the sporting map (Sporty Porty?) and anything that raises our profile has to be good news for the whole community.
