Thanks for the photos Jamesie. You must have been standing just a few feet away from me when you took them because I was watching the Gumboot Dancers as well. I thought they were excellent - a happy, joyful sunny sound which was just perfect for the occasion.
It was nice too, to see some of my friends and neighbours providing the entertainment. It was the first time I had heard Rose Nimmo sing. She really has a great voice and her band was very accomplished. Gica is also a neighbour and the Belle Stars were back on the 'cake stand' and attracting a large crowd.
The whole day and indeed the whole week has been a huge success. It proves, yet again, that the Promenade is a natural arena for all kinds of entertainment and that we have plently of creative and talented local people and the infrastructure to stage large scale events of this type. There is no doubt that, as part of the world's largest arts festival, Portobello was THE place to be today. We want more!
