I'm not a big monarchy fan but I've been quite horrified by some of the appallingly inflammatory press coverage of this whole thing. Headlines such as "What would Diana think?" strike me as being in very poor taste as well as being totally irrelevant. It was okay for her to have her affair with James Hewitt, and nobody minded her relationship with Dodi, but God forbid Charles should do the same. They got divorced, and she died. Surely the man is allowed to get on with his life just like anyone else would be, and just like she was? Apparently not.
If everyone's so anti-monarchy these days anyway, why do they care so much about one man's love for a woman who happens to be less pretty and apparently charming than his first wife? The rest of us have a right to be happy. I can't see myself why Charles and Camilla don't.
As for the arguments about it being unacceptable for monarchy, if we're still living in the dark ages then he could just have had Di's head chopped off like Henry VIII...unless we're living in the 21st century, in which case divorce happens, remarriage happens, and why should it matter that much to us?
