Hi from New Zealand. In 1969 i was staying with a schoolfriend on his fathers farm.In the old run down woolshed,i discovered an old seachest. My friends father told me it belonged to a young scot named Henry Farmer who came to New Zealand in 1903 from Stirling.I acquired the seachest and started piecing together this mans life. The seachest was left in his neighbours woolshed(my friends Grandfather) for safekeeping while he was away during the 1st world war.He was killed in palestine in 1917.Inside the seachest i found letters, diaries, photos, clothing, reciepts and letters of introduction.
Henry rodger Farmers father was William Farmer an export and commision agent in Stirling.Their home was at 28 albert place. He died in 1899.Henrys mother was Mary Jane McBeath Craig Farmer .She shifted to 8 park avenue ,Portobello in 1904 approx,to be nearer he two elder sons Charles and William Sydney Farmer(Syd),Charles lived with his mother .Mrs Farmer died in 1925 at Inveresk.I would love to find more out about this Family and share my manuscript on this mans short and trajic life.Any help tracing ancestors of this family would be gratefully appreciated.Regards Graeme Duckett.New Zealand
