Our relay team did so well, that they arrived in Portobello way ahead of schedule and I missed the hand over from Porty to Iain. Anyway, here's our hero, a minute or so after completing his leg.

The finishing times were published today. Our relay team came a very respectable 223rd place with a time of 3 hrs 38 mins out of 912 finishers, a truly outstanding performance from a scratch team.

Mrs Porty's team 'The Fountain Five' were in 337th place at 3 hrs 47 mins.

Further local interest was the 'Towerbank Staff' team in 293rd postion with 3 hrs 44 mins.

And although Homer was disappointed not to beat the 3 hour mark, he carried an injury most of the way to finish in 234th spot with 3 hours 16 mins. Bear in mind that 4406 completed the individual race and that adds up to quite an achievement.

Mrs Porty had been going nuts, thinking I would be publishing the ass kicking. Bob beat me to it.

Seriously, we had 3 men and 2 women versus their 5 women and that makes a big difference. For a start 3 of our team weren't bothered about slowing down to see at their reflection in shopfronts, to check they were looking ok.

The POL team did very well; Kath thrashed her target time by 12 minutes and her target time was based on hard training. Elizabeth, who even tho she had done lots of training was a bit scared of running such a long distance, in the end she bettered her target by 3 mins. Brian who previoulsy stated "I run at my own pace" kept to his word, delivering exactly what he said he would. I limped round quicker than I thought but I kid you not it was very, very painful. Ian, well he was bounding around like a spring kangaroo, he ran fast and then jogged back the whole distance to Dalriada. [-X

All in all it was a great performance, we finished in the top quartile. Dont know what our average age is? Im guessing its probably 38-40.

We need Bob in team next time, i asked Wangi too but the man is not for persuading. As for Dada? I am assuming Socialists don't jog.

Hope the leg gets better soon and doesn't trouble your efforts next year, Homer.
The fact that you must have been suffering badly for such a big stretch of the course makes your finishing position even more impressive.
