Archie is well known as Portobello's resident historian, as well as being part of the Portobello Reporter group. He recently retired from his position as Secretary of the Portobello History Society, having served on the committee for 21 years, though he will still be around as a 'backbencher'.
The society is in great shape with a record membership and having successfully produced their own history of Portobello film, available on video and DVD earlier this year.
