Introducing my friend's pet hamster Candy :
I will be looking after Candy this week while my friend and his girlfriend are on holiday. I will be going round to visit Candy as opposed to her coming to stay with Dada clan as we all agree that Oscar, my predatory cat, should not be allowed to get his teeth or claws anywhere near said rodent.
Back in the day my sister and I had a hamster, which my mum bought us from Dofos. After some thought we called him Harry. He had a basic cage which sat under the TV - this and that food, but nothing like the range of stuff that Candy has - did you know you could get Hamster Litter? And a mineral lick?
It's gratifying though that hamster poo hasn't evolved it's shape at all, and that old habits transferred through the genes still live on - scurrying, hoarding, nest-building, cage biting and the plastic ball walk.
When Harry died my mum bought me an ice-cream from the Vittoria.
