Pentlands to Portobello

An intriguing story in the Evening News today (10/3) concerning a proposed footpath to be constructed between the Pentlands and Portobello, following the route of the Burdiehouse Burn (which becomes the Figgate Burn) along the lines of the Water of Leith footpath. What a brilliant idea! Let’s hope that it will be available for cyclists as well. Any news on this from our resident Spokesworker? Anyone else have an opinion on this? Full story at:

Those were the days Bob! I can almost hear the anguish as you type, thinking to yourself will someone please reply.

Seriously, it's great that the forum has taken off in the way it has -- I'm obviously not the only one who logs in daily for a bit of chat.

And it was a very interesting news story. Anyone know if there was ever any follow-ip?

Always happy to hear of more bikepath possibilities. But, a bit like the 'neds by the seaside' my bike route to work last summer (Duddingston and Holyrood park) ended up being made positively dangerous by folk with too much time on their hands. (I immediately assume kids on school hols, but admit I don't have proof)!

If it wasn't the burning fences, or the trashed motrobikes it was the piece of wire strung across the Innocent tunnel - midway where it wasn't visible, about 6 inches off the ground - or the liberally strewn broken glass.

So if the new pathway is scenic, but that equates to 'out of sight' I will be thinknig carefully about when to use it.
