Our 'What's On' section is soon to be re-launched. In the meantime I would like to draw your attention to a couple of forthcoming events:

The first is the East Edinburgh Local Development Committee (ELDC) on Tuesday 2 March from 7 - 9 pm at Lochend YWCA, 198 Restalrig Road South. The main theme this time round is transport and road user charging. Members of the public will be able to 'ask the panel' and there is a general question time as well.

There will also be an opportunity to look around Edinburgh Young Scot’s first SmartBus. It will be parked outside from 6.30pm to 9.30pm. It’s a mobile education centre for young people aged 11 to 18 and is fitted out with a state of the art satellite system, 8 laptops, Plasma screen, comfy seating area, DJ decks, a wheel chair lift and an awning for sunny days. The bus is for young people across the city and it will visit different areas using a booking system.

These meetings are a genuine attempt to involve communities in council decision making. There are always a few people from Porty there, so come along and introduce yourself.

The other event which I would like to recommend to you is the next meeting of the East Edinburgh Crime Prevention Panel which takes place on Tuesday 30 March at 7pm in the Salvation Army building off Bath Street. I attended my first meeting this evening and my first impression is that this is an organisation that needs new blood and a bit of impetus so please come along.
