Tinned food is great.
Yesterday I was effusing to Mrs Dadaist about the excellent selection of tinned meat at the Musselburgh Lidl and not getting much back - I think the jelly that comes with tinned ham must be a love/hate thing.
Luncheon
What is the weirdest thing you have seen/eaten tinned?
What's the oldest use by date you have discovered on a tin in the back of the cupboard?
When we visited Durban, tinned apricot jam was the thing. It was like a paste and was gorgeous - I've never tasted the like since.
Toppers
What was the name of that tinned meat you had to grill in slices? There was a key on the side of the tin.
Fray Bentos has tested my love of tins over the years but never broken it even when I've cut myself badly. Those things are like landmines but the payoff is just too good. How clever is it to get a pie in a tin!!
Veg
I remember my gran bringing round a tin of sausage rolls when I had whooping cough.
Please share your canned memories.
