Yes to both your questions Porty.
When the trail was on I could hear it from my back green depending on the way the wind was blowing, it was quite loud along at Kings Road, nearly drowning out the noise of the pub music at one point.
Sure they can come up tarmac but didnt they have a plasticky type of runway for it to come up the sand?

I'm just thinking that instead of 900 lorries a minute heading up the HLR we could Hover Fife's commercial waste to the Viridor site. :lol:

Interesting thought but not sure how much waste you'd get on a hovercraft

I agree, its not very practical but it is an interesting alternative. I've no idea what load a Hovercraft can take but its worth investigating, it might be a lot?

And there's maybe no need to use the HLR. Surely a chute type arrangement from kings road to the viridor site would work? the craft reverse up the chute then, using some of their hot air, "fart" the starbucks cups etc onto the site- simples.

Noise would be a disadvantage but on the other hand; how many people have you heard of being knocked over or shunted by a Hovercraft? I'm thinking none.

I had a quick search online, there's companies that will make then rent hovercraft upto about 400tons

I'd also think a hover might get stuck in the narrow lanes at the Kings Road lights. Look at the trouble a runaway tractor caused.

The only folk that seem willing to sell are old Soviet era military hovercraft
I'd be doubtful how safe they'd be
