Sky Sports 3 to DVD?

Does anyone out there have the facility to record Sky Sports 3 to DVD? I'm looking for a recording of Carlisle v Leeds tonight and would be obliged if someone could do me a flavour.

It's a bit of a long shot to be honest. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there with Sky Sports 3 but very few people are likely to have a DVD recorder connected up to their Sky box. Carlisle on telly is a bit of a rarity, as you can imagine. The scenario tonight is that they are 2-1 up from the first leg and a place in the Johnston Paint Trophy final at Wembley awaits the winner of the tie. Think I should be able to listen online to the commentary from Radio Cumbria but would love to be at Brunton Park tonight.

Only problem is that it is a very recent purchase and I've only used it once to copy from V+ to DVD. I'm out tonight so can't monitor it if it screws up. I'll give it a go, but if you can get a back up plan it might be a good idea.

Have moved the DVD recorder onto our old cable box so it isn't an HD output, but the recorder is an upscaler so hopefully that'll compensate (I think!). More to the point, it means no one will play around with the settings before we go out - I don't think you'd appreciate 2 hours of Dave or Disney instead of Carlisle. Personally I'd prefer to watch even High School Musical 7 more than Carlisle, but each to his own.

Keep your fingers crossed I've done everything I'm meant to.

(BTW I've only got blank DVD-R discs. Can your player use this format? If not I'll set the recorder to record to the HDD and then copy to DVD when you get me the correct format disc for your player.)

OK, the bad news is that I set the recording to start at 7.00 and missed the first 5 mins of the match.

The good news is, that as the disc is 2 hrs long, this means I still got the penalty shootout - just! :shock:

Well done! I couldn't even find a commentary so had to resort to watching text updates on the BBC Sports page. You can imagine how often I was bashing that refresh button during the shoot out. Southampton in the final. Wem-ber-ley! Wem-ber-ley!

Bob - The commentator at one point said, 'Well that's Carlisle home and dry now'. I then went out to pick Jamie up from water polo to find it had gone to penalties by the time I got back! Your nerves must have been in tatters.

Bob, for future reference you wil be able to watch the match online for free on Justin.tv or if that fails you can link through from my p2p. I watch a lot of sports via these channels including pay per view boxing.
