Thanks for posting this - brilliant!
Why can't we build another toddlers/kids pool on the beach? Like North Berwick (fantastic). NB seems to be an unobtrusive concrete barrier so wouldn't cost much.
And a heated outdoor swimming pool too? Could be solar heated. There are tons of gadgets nowadays to retain heat like the latest hi-tech pool covers etc. Better than the govt wasting money on obesity adverts!
Isn't it sad that paddling pools in parks like the one in the park opposite Musselburgh Leisure Centre (next to the birds in cages) are sitting empty and unused? Why can't this be filled up for spring - autumn? No doubt public liability etc but surely parents can be responsible for their own kids and it's fenced off already.
Wouldn't it be great if instead of the tacky amusement arcades there could be attractive beachside entertainment that's healthy? There are great (and plenty of small scale) businesses like this overseas. A cafe with pool, couple of water slides, toddlers paddle area. People will moan we don't get the weather but if it was solar heated (kids don't feel it anyway) it would be used most of the year. If it was planned to be a flexible space, a solid pool cover (floor) would transform it into a young kids ride-on car play area or something in winter.
Would certainly be well used - Porty is packed with parents looking to entertain their kids every day!
