Promenade Charity Collectors - real or fake?

Postby Max Blinkhorn » 07 Feb 2012, 14:16

Hi All,

Down on the Prom yesterday about 4.30 and noticed two blokes dressed as Mr Blobby and a Smurf, rattling buckets for a charity called "Last Wish Foundation". Googled it - isn't one except in the States. Their whole demeanour seemed inappropriate for serious collectors, taking off their heads for a smoke at one point. They sauntered from the Amusements all the way past the Dariada in costume and really weren't working the crowd.

Anyone shed any light on them?

MaxB.

Don't know if either of you contacted the Police regarding this, but I've passed it on anyway. If they are genuine charity workers they should have ID.

OK, turns out that it's genuine. My understanding is that it's not a charity but a fundraising effort to pay for IVF treatment for someone whose partner has a terminal illness. They were at Kinnaird Park on Sunday as well.

I only saw them from the window so wasn't close enough to see or check any ID or even know what they were collecting for.
It was more a case of saying there's Mr Blobby going along the Prom
OO and smurf

and getting one of THOSE looks from the Clangers
