Sounds brilliant, where can I get one I spent most of my childhood in Portobello, even though I didn't actually live here until I was old enough to leave home. Most of my time was spent in the Open Air Pool during the summer (which is where I met my other half) and the baths during the winter months. Then we used to hang out in the cafe on the High Street, can't remember what it was called, it was run by two brothers - Italian I think - Gino and ?????? . Can anyone out there remind me about that - anyway great place for a coffee, spent many happy hours there!
My other half was Porty born and bred and one of his claim to fames is that his Dad taught Paul Young to fish - many, many, many years ago, when he was just a boy and before he became famous! (Paul Young that is ) and got his own fishing programme on the TV. - honest its true

It should be on sale from local shops from Monday. Was the cafe the one that used to be where R S McColls is now?

No the cafe was along the other end of the High Street next to the Figgate Whins, I think its the hairdressers now isn't it

Not one hundred percent sure Bob - it was a long time ago you know in the 60's if not Buddy's then the shop between them - is it not a driving school business now My memory is not good

By coincidence I was talking to Paul from Buddy's just the other day for a new article I'm planning for Planet Porty. The shop used to be owned by the Nicora family. It was a jewellers but I think it was run as a cafe prior to this. Paul told me that his mum used to work in there as a young girl.

Anyone else remember this?

Yes, I remember Nicoras but only when it was a jewellers, not when it was a cafe too. Too posh for us anyway. We frequented Jack's Locker in Bath Street (where my mother and father in law conducted their courtship apparently!)
