Good websites for kids

Can anyone recommend any? Our three year old is happy now they've updated the Thomas the Tank Engine site, and CBeebies has loads of stuff for preschoolers, but we were horrified to discover that our seven year old is getting no ICT at all at school. We decided to remedy this as soon as possible, and so are looking for good sites with interesting and educational games and stuff. He's quite geeky so science, ancient greece/rome/egypt, space, engineering, etc would all be great. Oh, and he loves art. Hates music . Can anyone help?
