As a business 'person' in Porty, I was very dissapointed to pick up a leflet advertising 'Golden Days' apparently taking place in less than 3 weeks time.
Sincere apologies Charles - We've realised that when we circulated shops and community groups up to 6 weeks ago we missed Brighton Place and the High St Nr Town Hall
Why has no one on the 'organising committee' bothered to approach local businesses looking for support or participation?
We have - 120 trader letters, 45 to community groups, regular reports to the community council and a short presentation to Portobello Rotary among the consultation carried out
Or is it to be like last year, a clique-ish 'do' for a few dancers looking for an excuse to cadge some public funding for their club?
No it isn't - if it ever was. We have volunteers from 9 community groups involved this year. Our office-bearers are all Porty people. The council initiated the festival idea and sponsored the event last year - no cadging involved. Just 1000 plus hours of unpaid work by a dozen volunteers.
However we will be holding a public meeting in early July to take feedback and form a new committee to run GoldenDays 2004. You'll be top of the invite list for that forum
Oh and I'll pop in for a chat this weekend
Kind regards and apologies again
Gordon
