From today's 'Evening News':
Of course the PFANS spokesperson was not showing disrespect for the views of Portobello's elderly residents. The elderly have an indisputable right to express their views (in fact, the power of the 'grey vote' is becoming quite a political force to contend with, in these days of growing political apathy ). One cannot argue with the fact, however, that as a group they are a statistical minority in the Portobello area (19.6% according to ) and yet they were in the majority at the meeting, which is what was pointed out.
