The lowest tide is forecast to be tonight, at 22:24... 20cm lower than this morning, no less!

Tomorrow morning at half ten should be nice and low too...

I missed the excitement of the morning low tide, but did get the alarmingly high tide in the afternoon. Lots of seaweed and a small tree

Beautiful photos Wangi!

Tempted as I was by the lure of a dramatically low tide and mysteriously revealed seabed objects, it was dark, I'd have sunk and I have no zoom lens atm. :cry:

It's High Tide Mystery Objects today...the beach is covered in mini Pirates (but not Mr Depp :cry:

). Anyone know why??

poor Mr Soupy has been unwell and thought it was the fever making him see wee pirates everywhere!

Speaking to my dad he reckons the low tide objects are indeed the old sea water intake for the Baths
The settling tower was up the wee lane at the side, then the water pumped over the road to the boiler.
Not quite sure when the Baths stopped being salt water, maybe someone alse remembers.

The low tide mystery objects are revealed!
It is indeed the salt water intake for the Baths

The sand level was much lower then as can be seen by this photo taken at the foot of what is now Bellfield St ( then Melville St )

Granpaw was the Pond Manager and lived "above " the Baths in Melville St.
There was a door in the stair led into the Baths
I mind being in the water tower and seeing the" settling tank".
There was a wee fish lived in it and an anenome
The building nest to the water tower , now derelict was the laundry, the towels that were hired out were washed in there
It had HUGE sinks, well they seemed huge to me and a perpetual smell of carbolic soap
I'm sure Granpaw called the boiler Bertha

I think these whatevers have been around for a while: I recall watching them off Musselburgh Pans on and off for several years...waiting to see if they moved! sounds like same thing but sorry dont know identity!

I didn't risk it in the dark after all, Wangi, but I was straight out there today for the sunshine-soaked high tide!
