On a different pub note looks like Barellio is being revamped into an eating place.

We used to go to Demarcos on the prom. every sunday night it used to be packed out with teenagers.Does anyone else remember this?

I remember hearing about it!!

I think Bert Demarco (same family?) now helps out in Donovan's take away on the high street.

The only Demarcos I remember is the one that was on the high street around about where the old William Hill shop is now. It was a sweetie and ice cream shop but it had booths where you could also sit in to eat. Their peas in vinegar were legendary in Porty at the time. All in all a cool hang out spot.

My in-laws used to hang out in Jack's Locker in Bath Street as teenagers and it was still a shop when I was wee. I remember Demarcos in the High Street too POP. They did magic ice cream floats.

The Demarcos in the high street used to sell penny vantas and wonderful ice cream.The one on the prom used to have music and sell coffee ect.It had a tenement above it but that has been knocked down now. I used to have a paper round and along the promenade was part of my round.

I bet not many people can say they had a paper round which took in a beach! I always thought the same when the kids went to Towerbank by walking along the beach and now my daughter uses it to get to work - better than your average commute!

My paper round was the Brighton Crescents and Mount Lodge I worked forthe newsagent on Southfield Place. I had two milk rounds, the first was using a wheelbarrow type thing for the Baronscourt Dairy at Piershill, I had christiemiller avenue etc, it was a nightmare.The other was for kennerty we had one of those electric vans. One day the van didn't show up, the driver had absconded, taking my wages with him, devastating.

I never managed to have any of those jobs at xmas time. The tales of tips were legendary but I missed out.
