Westbank Street

Hi guys!
Interested in buying a flat on the above street but don't know much about Portobello. Is this a safe/quiet place to live?Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi , Lived in Porty/Joppa all my life . Love it . Great place to live . You can get anywhere in Edinburgh by bus from here .

I like living in Porty so I'm biased

We've got a great butcher in the High St, fishmonger, fruit and veg shops, bakers etc etc
There's Scotmid in Bath street or we're not far from Morrisons at Peirshill or Asda at the Jewel. Tesco, Lidl, Aldi all a short trip in Mussellburgh
We also have a beach

Westbank Street was built in the early 1980s on the site of the power station. As I recall the flats are all electric and there's supposed to be residents parking for the estate.
The open air pool used to be opposite, on what is now the 5 a side football pitches. You may get a bit noise in the evening from teams playing there

As Magbagpuss says there are buses into Edinburgh, also down to the East coast. We also have a direct bus to the Infirmary.

I'm proudly biased too! Has everything you probably need or is within bussing/walking/short car journey distance. My daughter lives off Westbank Street and has done for 7 years and hasn't had any trouble although the beach gets a bit busy in the Summer. We also have a very informative, opinionated and group huggy type of forum going on..... Welcome to Porty!

Sounds promising, thanks for the feedback. I know people from musselburgh and they say porty is fine so I will view the flat and take it from there!
