The root of the POL/TP-PCC conflict that ultimately led to divorce was very similar to the lashhylass/keir hardie/rex mundi/potobelloonsite/mrs mangle, spoiler strategy.

DC and a few others despised POL and tried to get it closed down- why? Because, suddenly the Porty public had a voice and it was often disagreeable, to them. Initially they did engage and did debate but gradually their inability to compete on sense and facts led to them claiming "bullying" and putting the boot in at PCC. Sean gave us an example of someone who is horrified by TP but has never actually been here. I firmly believe the root of PCC contempt for POL was the one-sided, unfair and untrue representations by three or four individuals who had it in for us. And who are anti- public consultation.

If it weren't for TP PCC would still be willy nilly objecting to planning applications without fear of public disaffection. Thanks to TP we are changing that culture, they know we are watching and there's quite a lot of us, anonymous or otherwise. They may not think they've changed but nowadays they definitely have to think twice before misrepresenting the people.

I like all the made up names and what people choose to have as their avatars as it adds to the fun. I am more than happy to reveal my actual name if someone thinks I was being underhand in a post or hiding behind my 'false' identity.

Not many folk have Identified themselves. Does that mean there really has been a number of multiple identity users? Bit sad really. I like the idea of no anonymity since I can't see the need to not be known. Perhaps having to register real name would temper some tempers!

It is not my understanding that those who do not tell their real name are not allowed to post. It is my view that maybe anonymity is partly to blame for some of the alleged bullying.

Somehow I can't take Lashylass' comments seriously enough to find them too offensive, most of the time they are ridiculous and frankly incomprehensible. The comments about Bob's daughter were unnecessary. I always say I will ignore his/her comments but somehow I always respond. Would I respond in the same way if I knew who he was? Probably would yes, but I really wish I wouldn't bother.
The conflict between Epykat and Seashell feels a bit different and definitely not in a good way. I don't know who either of them are but surely it doesn't need to be quite so nasty
I've had "dialogue" with Betty before and was told by Epykat to grow up, maybe a few folk should be doing that.

The school issue is massive and once it's resolved there will doubtless be other issues to "discuss" but it's hard to think of one that will evoke as much emotion.

We are all adults ( I think!) I am going to try (again!) to behave like one.

I think we are getting away from the point of this thread, which is that there seems to be general agreement that it is healthier and perhaps more conducive to civilised discussion, to have a situation where people aren't hiding behind anonymity. So I'm calling on everyone to unmask. That may be a bit scary for some and a bit awkward for others, but let's give it a go and see where it takes us. What's the worst that can happen? That person you've been having an online feud with turns out to be your neighbour? Your boss? Your wife?

Clearly you have no wish for me to be involved with any creative endeavours so I will forthwith withdraw my interest.
While I can move on from discussions in which you attempt to protray yourself as the sole aggrieved party, you do not appear to wish to. I would not wish to put you to any obligation to keep me in the loop as I have no wish to participate in any activity where you have made it clear I am not welcome.

Re your posts on Creative Porty. I don't want to sound rude and I really am very community spirited, but I am intrigued as to why you might want to spend time in my company?

You made it abundantly clear that I have a 'slight problem with comprehension', am 'inconsistent' and engage in 'unattractive attempts at bullying and harrassment', 'attacked' you and 'lashed out' - hardly the type of person you might want to spend your spare time with.

I am not the stupid hyprocrite that some people would lead you to believe me to be, and neither are any of my friends, and I therefore find it difficult to be involved in conversations online and then pretend it never happened in real life, so for you to express an interest in something that I may be organising seems a bit strange given your obvious low opinion of me.

I'm happy to keep you in the loop with Creative Porty if you want me to because I would like it to be a community venture, but I will make you aware that there may also be other people involved who are on the 'wrong' side of the school argument.

Drawing a line in the sand isnt about losing face or anything like that - its about moving on. This Seashell/ Epy loop of argument is perpetual and wont resolve itself.
Positive Porty isnt about these arguments - its about our common interest - making Porty the best place it can be and moving with the times and its an eclectic mix of people, views, interests and positions. Both Epy and Seashell have a lot to contribute to all these discussions so why the hassle and secrecy.
Can you both agree to disagree and move on?

As for the vacuous comments. I believe those were directd at the people who persisted with the vacuous claims relating to the golf course and the significant majority. And you were never one of them?

I think you're missing my point Avril. I'm agreeing with Suzanne that we should draw a line in the sand. Life is short. Many of us are unhappy with how people we thought were our friends have behaved, myself included, and maybe some relationships are irretrievably damaged so it's all the more important now that we learn from past mistakes. And that starts with an end to anonymity. It's fine when it's a bunch of strangers strung out around the world but in a small community like ours it doesn't work.
