I think making a factual claim and then not attempting to justify it on the basis that you 'can't be bothered' is indeed vacuous. It certainly renders any meaningful attempt at dialogue futile.

As to bullshitting, it is quite distinct from lying. The liar has to first know the truth, so they can then seek to conceal it. For bullshitters the truth is neither here nor there; they say what is convenient with no regard to its accuracy either way.

However, during the discourse it was apparent your understanding of the principles of the design was at best flawed and at worst woefully inaccurate. At that point you may have conceded but you kept digging. Bullshit was inevitable.
