In case some of you don't read the Portobello Matters Forum, I thought I'd also promote next week's fundraiser on here. It promises to be a great night with a caberet style atmosphere. Although it is billed as a 'concert', the audience will be sitting in small groups at tables with low lighting and there will be a bar.
All tastes in music will be catered for by our star studded line up, who have all given their services for free to help PONGS.

It's the word 'children' that puts me off - seriously.

It's a tricky one. I've heard folk say that if they have secured a babysitter they'd rather go up town for the night, but they'd happily attend a local event if they could take kids with them.
Like you Epykat, I prefer my nights out to be in adult company, but our best supported event so far was the Salsa Ceilidh, which was a children/adult event and a complete sell out, raising £1200 (and that was without a bar!).
I suspect this event may well appeal more to adults and those with older children rather than young families, but if you are willing to spend £5 on a kid's ticket children will be most welcome!
