The Dadaist bashed finger sympathy thread

Today at the conclusion of my driving lesson I was telling my instructor a Woody Allen joke, got distracted when I got out of the car and promptly slammed the door shut on my finger - thus -



Any posts of sympathy, derision, worse stories about finger pain, or other anecdotes or comments are welcomed. As I mashed my finger just outside my house on Marlborough Street, I feel this post is "on topic".

That's all the sympathy I can spare as I'm trying to get ready to go out, make the tea and tidy the house!!!

Yesterday my fingers got crushed when I tried to open out 'multi-angle ladders' and the ladders slammed shut on my hand while my fingers were in the main hinge. Yes, today I sympathise with sore fingers. My index finger is blackened and my fingers are swollen. I sat with my hand in water while being unable to see and feeling sick if I moved. I'm ashamed to say that I finally phoned Mr DG at work who came home for half an hour. Must add that I have never done that before but felt quite pathetic and wimpy

DG - I feel your pain.

I must recommend the meds I'm on - 400mg of Ibuprofen and a couple of co-codamols seem to have done the trick.

I will be repeating said dose before bedtime, possibly substituting the co-codamol for Night Nurse. And I might get some TLC if I don't talk all the way through "X Factor" and "Jungle" ...

I'll give that medication a try (that initially said c-ocktail but can you believe that word is banned on the forum!) - perhaps I'll substitute Night Nurse for a g + t.

I wondered what all the blood stains were when we moved in.

Nah! That would be the sad demise of Mr E! (have you ever noticed the dent in the living room wall between the fireplace and the box room door? That was an altercation between myself, my husband, a cup and a sausage roll )

Lots of sympathy for dadaist and DG whose trauma is recent.

I have never had a "serious" accident, and my fingers are relatively trauma free, although last years I was framing a picture on my knee when the frame swung downwards. I asked Mrs B for help and she simply started sliding the glass away from me, slicing through my finger at the same time and not registering my glazed expression and almost silent whimpering... Eldest offspring did break my nose when he was two though, demanding a kiss, Glasgow-style... Love hurts.

My brothers have spent a significant amount of time in A&E, however. Some occasions rto do with work hazards and stepping on planks with rusty nails etc, but several more from damage they were supposed to be inflicting on other people. Interesting time when youngest brother met person pain had been inflicted on in A&E at same time, because brother had broken his thumb when punching other chap...

But I come from a nice family. Really. There's only been one arrest and no convictions.

I'm happy to take the backseat to some of the much more scary and serious breaks and cuts which have come to light here.
